Instrumentation and Control Technicians Roles (Power Plants)

Under direct supervision of the Shift Lead or Senior Technician, the Junior I&C Shift Technician performs routine preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and standard calibrations of field instruments in power plant environment. This role focuses on building core operational knowledge, executing field tasks safely, and supporting plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Field Maintenance & Execution: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and basic repairs on temperature (RTDs, thermocouples), pressure, level, and flow transmitters.

• Basic Calibration: Perform standard calibrations on field devices using standard tools (e.g., Fluke calibrators, HART communicators) per SOPs.

• Routine Checks: Assist senior team members with loop checks, signal verification (4–20mA, digital signals), and field device replacement during planned outages or minor trips.

• Compliance & Safety: Adhere strictly to Permit to Work (PTW) systems, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and plant HSE policies.

• Documentation: Log daily maintenance tasks, update calibration certificates, and close out work orders in the CMMS (SAP PM / Maximo).

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Diploma or Technical Certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Engineering.

• Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on technical experience in continuous process or power generation plants.

• Skills: Basic knowledge of power generation instrumentation, reading simple loop drawings/P&IDs, and using multi-meters and HART communicators.
